We always try to share opportunities with our students, especially when it comes to free money! (outside scholarships, competitions, etc.) Today we came acros an in-house competition, (what a great idea)! See below for details.
The Weitzman School has launched an ideas competition inviting current Weitzman students to submit proposals for redesigning the basement-level commons in Meyerson Hall. The competition recognizes the importance of spaces for informal gatherings and conversation to our community's health and productivity.
The goal is to renovate the existing space in order to:
Create a more welcoming, comfortable atmosphere
Provide more informal space for socializing
Promote communal activities
Better meet students’ needs for study, convening, and dining
Students are invited to submit a proposal that includes furniture, flooring, lighting, and paint finishes. Submissions may come from individuals or teams.
The winning proposal will receive a cash honorarium of $2,000, a feature story in Design Weekly (the School’s publication of record) and on design.upenn.edu, and recognition on the School’s social media channels. Two honorable mentions will receive $1,000 prizes.
Additional details can be found on the RFP (in pdf form) on this page (when viewing this on a desktop or laptop, see Downloads on the right). A floorplan of the basement level of Meyerson Hall is also available for download. Please contact Karl Wellman (kwellman@design.upenn.edu) for a CAD drawing file of the space or any questions.
