If you have visited Manhattan lately, it is almost impossible to miss the High Line, a 1.45-mile-long greenway built on a historic, elevated freight line, which was designed in part by James Corner Field Operations, the firm of Professor Emeritus James Corner, MLA’86. But did you know that Philadelphia has started to build a similar public space which is planned to be more than double the length and width of the High Line? It’s called the Rail Park, and Phase I was completed and opened to the public one year ago in June 2018. You can learn more about the Rail Park and see all of their upcoming events on their website. We’ll definitely be checking out the Star Party on July 20th, an astronomy night celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing!
