Peace Park is a community park located in North Philadelphia and is run by community members who help keep this area free of crime. The Weitzman School of Design has also partnered with the community to help with Peace Park. Not only has this area been turned into local gardens for the community, but Peace Park also distributes food and staple goods to seniors…and they give away free produce from the garden too! Well, on Monday two adjacent buildings that Peace Park use to store materials were raided by police! There seems to have been a slight misunderstanding; Peace Park had been asking the City to use these abandoned buildings but had not heard back, so they began to clean up the buildings and use them while they were in communication with the City. Luckily no one was in the buildings when the police came and the police later apologized to the Peace Park community. And best of all, the City has agreed to let Peace Park continue to use the buildings!
