Hello fellow Philadelphians! Did you know that the U.S. Census Bureau estimates that by the year 2050 the nation's population will grow by 80 million people. Yes, 80 MILLION, on top of that three-quarters of those people will be living in urban areas. Can you imagine how much worse traffic on I-76 will be in 2050, or what housing will be like? Well, don't fret, our City and Regional Planning students and faculty are hard at work to find fantastic solutions. In fact, CRP's Dr. Genie Birch co-authored an article that was just published by the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia; Habitat III: The Quest for Sustainable Urban Development discusses an upcoming United Nations Conference topic on housing and sustainable urban development.
