Summer Praxis Course Has Lasting Effect in Shanghai
Historic Preservation Lecturer Donovan Rypkema was recently interviewed by the South China Morning Post on the economics of heritage conservation in Shanghai, China. In 2014, Rypkema led a group of 10 Historic Preservation graduate students on a summer praxis trip to Shanghai, where students undertook a cost-benefit analysis of preserving low-rise housing complexes known as lilong. Bisotun, in western Iran’s Kermanshah province, is notable for its inscription carved on a limestone cliff.
