Artificial intelligence is increasingly being used across design, teaching, research, visualization, computation, and administrative work. This page provides resources to help the Weitzman community explore and use AI thoughtfully and responsibly while following University requirements for academic integrity, privacy, information security, data protection, and intellectual property.

Instructional guidance and syllabus recommendations
AI expectations may differ by course, studio, instructor, and assignment. Students should always follow the AI-use requirements established by their instructor.
When using AI, students remain responsible for the accuracy, quality, originality, and integrity of the work they submit. AI-generated material should be disclosed or attributed when required by the instructor, and students should not provide confidential, sensitive, or restricted Penn information to AI services without authorization.
Important: Access to a publicly available AI service does not necessarily mean that the service is approved for use with Penn data.
PennChat is Penn's University-supported generative AI platform and is available at no cost to eligible Penn faculty, staff, and students. It provides access to multiple leading AI models through a Penn-managed environment.
PennChat can be used for a variety of tasks, including writing and brainstorming, research assistance, document analysis, and other AI-assisted workflows. PennChat provides additional privacy and security protections for University use. Refer to ISC's PennChat documentation for current guidance on permitted data classifications and restrictions.
Penn also provides access to a growing collection of other generative AI services, including ChatGPT Edu, Microsoft Copilot, and other specialized platforms. Availability, licensing, cost, and permitted data classifications vary by service.
Before providing Penn information, research data, course materials, drawings, images, GIS data, or other content to an AI service, consider whether the information is appropriate for that service.
