Dear Weitzman Faculty, Staff, and Students,
As Microsoft has been announcing, support for Windows 10 will officially end on October 14, 2025. After this date, Windows 10 devices will no longer receive security updates or patches, leaving them increasingly vulnerable to security risks.
Please note:
Weitzman IT–managed resources have already been migrated, or are scheduled to be migrated, to Windows 11 before the October 14, 2025 deadline. No action is required for school-issued computers, as Weitzman IT is coordinating directly with end users.
For personal devices, Weitzman IT provides the following guidance to help you prepare:
Check compatibility with Windows 11. Use Microsoft’s PC Health Check tool to confirm whether your device qualifies.
Upgrade to Windows 11 if eligible. This will ensure your device continues to receive security updates and perform reliably. Visit the official Microsoft page here: Upgrade to Windows 11.
Plan ahead if your device cannot upgrade. Older systems that do not meet Windows 11 requirements should be replaced before October 14, 2025.
If you need to replace your device, the university has a partnership with Dell that provides discounts:

Thank you for reviewing this guidance and taking steps to keep your personal devices and the Weitzman community secure.
