Rendering is Permitted Under These Conditions:
During In-Class Instruction:
Rendering may occur as part of supervised coursework or class demonstrations.
Computer Lab Station Priority:
Workstations in public labs are primarily for general student use and class-related activities. Rendering should not interfere with lab availability for these purposes.
Scheduled or Extended Rendering Jobs:
Any rendering expected to run longer than 2 hours or beyond class time must be submitted in advance to: ithelp@design.upenn.edu.
This allows IT to review timing, workstation suitability, and avoid system disruptions.
Not Permitted:
Rendering on general-use lab machines during peak hours or without prior approval if it exceeds standard session length.
Leaving machines unattended for long renders without scheduling or IT coordination.
Installing or using unapproved rendering software (e.g., via third-party app stores like Epic Games Launcher).
Important Notes:
Rendering tasks may be paused or terminated by IT staff if they impact lab performance or violate this policy.
Dedicated rendering stations or remote resources may be provided on a case-by-case basis.
If a user hasn't logged in within 7 days, their profile will be deleted. Additionally, any profiles exceeding 5GB in size are removed after a system reboot.
Rendering is done at your own risk. Do not leave the device unattended during the process.
