The 2017 Jury of Fellows from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) elevated 178 AIA members to its prestigious College of Fellows, including ten University of Pennsylvania School of Design alumni.
New PennDesign Fellows include: Jack A. Bialosky (C‘76), Sheila F. Cahnman (C‘78, GAR‘81), Ellen C. Cassilly (GAR‘88), Richard D. Connell (C‘95), Michael Garz (GAR‘78), Daniel R. Kenney (GAR‘74 GCP‘74), William T. Maclay (MArch‘77), Elisabeth Martin (C‘80), John P. Spickler (GAR‘91), and Howard Zimmerman (GAR‘75).
Out of a total AIA membership of over 90,000, only 3% of members are distinguished with this honor.
The Fellowship program was developed to elevate those architects who have made a significant contribution to architecture and society and who have achieved a standard of excellence in the profession. Election to fellowship not only recognizes the achievements of architects as individuals, but also their significant contribution to architecture and society on a national level.
