Joshua Harrington Davidson (GCP’17) won the Dorot Fellowship for Jewish Leadership in the 21st Century. Each year, 12 Fellows are chosen by the Dorot Foundation to live in Israel, where they gain skills to observe where change is needed, assess and interpret the actions needed to bring about change, and then become active players in the social change process.
Hao Fu (GAR’17), Yunlong Zhang (GAR’17) and Ge Yang (GAR’17) received an Honorable Mention in the 2017 eVolo Skyscraper Competition for their submission “Flexible Materials Skyscraper” that “hopes to explore a new architectural model to meet people’s pursuit of architectural form while reducing the tedious construction process.” The competition recognizes ideas that redefine skyscraper design through novel technologies, materials, programs, and spatial organizations.
Farre Nixon, a student in the Department of Architecture, is the Second Prize Winner of the Gensler Selects 2017 Diversity Scholarship. Nixon’s submission proposed a live-work mixed-use building in Red Hook, Brooklyn that marries exceptional aesthetic considerations with creative functionality. The Gensler Diversity Scholarship is a juried program that recognizes emerging talent among African-American students enrolled in architecture programs.
Rivka Weinstock, a student in the Department of Landscape Architecture, has been awarded the ASLA-NY Designing in the Public Realm Scholarship. The Scholarship is intended to support future leaders who will strive to make living in urban environments healthier and more enjoyable. Weinstock’s work is community-centered, prioritizing flexible and equitable spaces within contemporary urban landscapes.
