PennPraxis, in collaboration with the Pennovation Center and PennDesign, presents the Design Innovation Showcase: Spatial Efficiency at Pennovation for Design Philadelphia 2018.

The Design Innovation Showcase is a series of exhibits and lectures highlighting the work of PennDesign faculty and students at Pennovation: Penn's center for innovation of all disciplines. This first event in the series includes both a lecture and exhibit, featuring the groundbreaking work of Masoud Akbarzadeh, Director of the Polyhedral Structures Laboratory (PSL) at PennDesign, located at Pennovation. Dr. Akbarzadeh’s research draws from his background in architectural design, computation, and structural engineering, primarily focusing on Three-Dimensional Graphical Statics, which is a novel geometric method of structural design in three dimensions.

The lunctime lecture will be held Tuesday, October 9, 11:30am-1pm, preceded by a short tour of the Pennovation Center and a discussion of the history of the site and building by PennPraxis (time permitting).

The Spatial Effficiency exhibit will be hosted at the Pennovation Center from Tuesday, October 9 to Thursday, October 11 during hours of operation: 8:00am to 5:00pm.
