Ben Krone earned his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Florida in 1999. In 2004 Ben received his Masters degree from Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, where he was the recipient of the McKim Prize for Excellence in design and the Sol Kaplan Traveling fellowship. After seven years with SHoP Architects in New York, in 2007 he founded Gradient, a design studio whose work focuses on procedural approaches to manipulating surface systems and bridging the gap between architecture, product design and graphic art. Gradients past achievements include a installation for the Cooper Hewitt Design Museum, collaborations with several acclaimed artists and multiple award winning residential and commercial projects. Currently Gradient is working on a number of larger projects including boutique hotel in Brooklyn and a large residential tower in Jersey City. Ben's work has appeared in a number of art and design publications such as 'Surface' and Architectural Record. Ben was the recipient of UPenns Perkins award for distinguished teaching in 2018. Ben has also taught in the Integrated Product Design program at Penn.
