Bowen Qin is a Ph.D. student in the building technology track at the Weitzman School of Design, University of Pennsylvania. His research interests lie in machine learning-aided design and fabrication, with a belief that artificial intelligence can transform the current architecture industry by generating spatial designs or optimizing existing design and fabrication workflows as tools. He currently serves as a research assistant at the DumoLab* and the Autonomous Manufacturing Lab, where his research addresses computational design, environmentally friendly materials, and robotic fabrications.
Prior to his Ph.D. journey, Bowen was a senior architectural designer at Archi-Tectonics in New York City, led by Winka Dubbeldam. He actively led design team and conducted interdisciplinary research on projects of varying scales, spanning from the U.S. to Europe and China.
