BIO
With over a decade in the profession, much of Cathy's work experience has been focused on turning renderings into thoughtful buildings through careful detailing and coordination. She discovered a love forarchitectural acoustics during her undergraduate thesis design project, forwhich she won a Robert Bradford Newman award. Following through with this passion, Cathy centered her Masters Thesis around acoustics, has had the opportunity to collaborate with acousticians on several projects, and performs as a flutist for The SymphoNYChorus. Her love of detailing is grounded in her past work experience as a Preservation Architect, during which she saw first-hand what causes buildings to deteriorate and learned how important it is forthe various parts of a building to work together.

Sound and Space: Structure, Movement, and the Senses
Why did you choose the MS program at PENN and what has it allowed you to achieve educationally?
"It encouraged deeper questions about what architecture is and how it's relevant today. Through the process of studying other people's theories, my own were freed to crystalize and become more deeply mine. This has helped me engage in the discussion/creation of buildings ever since as a practitioner."
