Cory Kegerise is a preservation practitioner with more than 20 years of professional experience in the public, nonprofit, and private sectors. Currently he is the Manager of History and Preservation Assistance Programs for Interior Region 1/Northeast Region of the National Park Service. In this role he manages the Park History, National Historic Landmark, National Historic Lighthouse Preservation, Federal Historic Surplus Property, and Heritage Documentation Programs for national park units and communities between Virginia and Maine. Immediately prior to this position, Cory was a Supervisory Program Manager in the State, Tribal, Local, Plans & Grants Division, Cultural Resources, Partnerships, and Science Directorate of the National Park Service. He served as program lead for State Historic Preservation Office programs and the Paul Bruhn Historic Revitalization Grant program and worked with his colleagues to distribute grants from the Historic Preservation Fund to projects across the country. Prior to joining NPS, Cory worked as the Community Preservation Coordinator for Eastern Pennsylvania at the Pennsylvania State Historic Preservation Office and the Administrator of Local Preservation Programs at the Maryland Historical Trust. Earlier in his career, Cory was the Executive Director of the Elfreth’s Alley Association in Philadelphia, managed a grant program for a National Heritage Area, and worked as a historic preservation consultant.
Cory served on the board of the National Alliance of Preservation Commissions for nine years, including two as Chair. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners.
