As an architect, a lecturer and a scholar, Ariel Genadt’s main topics of research and teachings include: the design and construction of architectural envelopes that express cultural and environmental aspects; practices and theories of climate-oriented architecture worldwide; architecture in Japan since the 19th century. Genadt has collaborated as an architect on a wide range of buildings, urban design and landscape projects in Europe, Asia, and Africa. In 2012 he was a Fellow Researcher of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science at the Kengo Kuma Lab at Tokyo University (2012), and the first visiting scholar at the Fondazione Renzo Piano, Genoa (2013). He has curated the exhibition Critical Abstractions - Modern Architecture in Japan (2018) and was Associate Curator and Designer of the exhibition Building in China (2022), both at Penn’s Architectural Archives Gallery.
