Eric Delmelle is an instructor at Weitzman teaching Geospatial Data Science, and Spatial Optimization.
His research is at the intersection of public health and geography, specifically: (1) modeling and visualization of vector-borne diseases outbreaks; (2) modeling of water contamination in rural counties and risk communication to remote populations; (3) geographic access to care with a particular focus on residential mobility.
He has been funded by the March of Dimes Foundations, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the North Carolina Water Resources Research, the North Carolina Department of Justice, and the National Science Foundation.
Eric is also a Visiting Associate Professor in the Department of Geography & Earth Sciences at University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and a faculty associate at the University of Eastern Finland and the Vrije Universiteit Brussels, in Belgium.
Eric received his M.A. and Ph.D. in Geography, and an MS in Operations Research, all from SUNY Buffalo. He also completed a Master in Biostatistics in 2022 from Erasmus University.
Eric serves as the editor for Cartography and GIScience.
