How did you get interested in your field?
Since I was a child I had a dream of becoming an architect. In high school I became interested in environmental science, gardening, and social justice, then in college, my interests came together when I discovered the wide world of landscape architecture. It was the perfect fusion of everything I wanted in a field.
What was your background prior to coming to Penn?
I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Vermont and then I worked for three years as Marketing + Communications Director at an architectural firm in Boston.
Why did you choose Penn?
Penn’s program is simply outstanding and it has been running for over 100 years – that alone speaks volumes! I felt that the faculty were very engaged with students and cared about learning and critical thinking, which was important to me. Plus, everyone here is just so friendly!
What do you like best about Philadelphia?
I love how Philadelphia is so walkable. I’ve enjoyed exploring different restaurants, museums, or farmers markets on foot or on my bike!.
What kinds of activities and/or organizations are you involved in?
I am the Director of Communications for Weitzman Student Council and I’m part of the Weitzman Gardeners. Outside of school I love to run, cook, and knit!
What are your career ambitions?
My hope is to work at a firm that focuses on urban design and public access to green space. I would love to work abroad one day!
