Jacobie Smith is a PhD student in the Architecture History and Theory track. Before joining Weitzman’s PhD program, Jacobie earned her BArch degree at Drexel University where she collaborated with faculty and fellow students to create inclusive learning spaces for BIPOC architecture students. While completing the M.S. Architecture program at Weitzman, Jacobie researched how Black Panther Party ideologies can be applied to spatial operations to transform learning institutions to equitable spaces where knowledge is not only produced but exchanged. She wishes to continue investigating Black space making practices throughout her time at Weitzman.
