Jessica Vaughn’s art practice is a dedication to understanding materials and images and how they function politically, socially and conceptually in the world. Her most recent artworks in sculpture, drawing, video, and photography interrogate questions of labor and architecture.
Vaughn’s work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally. Recent exhibitions include her exhibitions I 🖤 CUSTOMERS at Kunstverein Dusseldorf, Dusseldorf, DE, Our Primary Focus is to Be Successful at the Institute of Contemporary Art Philadelphia, Working Thought at the Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, PA, Hiding In Plain Sight, Pace Gallery, New York, NY, and Lost In America, at the Museum Bellpark in Kriens, Switzerland. Vaughn is a 2022 Canadian Centre for Architecture Fellow, 2021 Creative Capital Awardee, a 2019 receipt of a Graham Foundation research grant and published in 2021 an artist book with Printed Matter Inc. She received a B.H.A. from Carnegie Mellon University, and an M.F.A. from the University of Pennsylvania. Vaughn was a participant of the Whitney Independent Study Program and Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. She is an Associate Professor of Painting at the Tyler School of Art and Architecture at Temple University.
