Hometown: Dallas, Texas Education Background: B.S. In Architecture
How did you get interested in your field?
I first became interested in architecture through my dad, who is an architect. From an early age, I was drawn to creative expression whether through art, design, or music and I realized I wanted to channel that creativity into something tangible and impactful in the real world. That path naturally led me to architecture.
What was your background prior to coming to Penn?
I was born in Tehran, Iran, and later moved to Dallas, Texas, where I spent much of my life. Before coming to Penn, I completed my Bachelor of Science in Architecture at the University of Texas at Arlington and interned at Corgan in Dallas, which gave me valuable exposure to professional practice.
Why did you choose Penn?
I chose Penn because of its resilient design culture and the opportunities it provides to grow as both a student and a professional. The Weitzman School brings together diverse perspectives and a collaborative environment that excited me. Philadelphia also offers a vibrant urban context that connects history with innovation, which made Penn feel like the perfect place to continue my architectural journey.
What do you like best about Philadelphia?
What I like best about Philadelphia is the energy of the city itself. Coming from Dallas, I have really enjoyed how walkable and connected Philadelphia feels—the people, the vibrance, the noise, and the sense of community make it welcoming in a unique way. There is always something happening, and that liveliness makes the city feel like an extension of campus.
What kinds of activities and/or organizations are you involved in?
I stay connected to music as a creative outlet beyond Studio. I am also an active member of AIAS and NOMAS, where I have found community and opportunities to engage with architecture outside the classroom.
What are your career ambitions?
My career ambition is to become a licensed architect and design projects innovative and rooted in community. I am especially interested in adaptive reuse and speculative design, and I hope to work on projects that reimagine the built environment while creating spaces that connect people and cultures.
