Robert Peck is a Washington DC-based Principal at Gensler, an international architecture and design firm. He is a nationally recognized advocate for design who initiated highly influential programs in the public, non-profit and private sectors. Over 8 years in the Clinton and Obama administrations, Mr. Peck was Commissioner of GSA’s Public Buildings Service, where he launched the GSA’s Design Excellence program which has had broad impact on building sustainability and quality. He also worked at the Office of Management and Budget, the National Endowment for the Arts’ Federal Design Program, the White House and the FCC. On Capital Hill, he was Chief of Staff to Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan and Associate Counsel to the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works. He was the VP for Public Affairs at the American Institute of Architects. In his diverse volunteer work, Mr. Peck has served on the DC School Board, as President of the DC Preservation League, and as a board member of the American Architectural Foundation and the National Building Museum. He has participated in the Mayors’ Institute on City Design, and was awarded the Thomas Jefferson Award for Public Architecture by the AIA.
