Roy is an Architectural Conservator who teaches the Masonry Conservation Seminar in the Department of Historic Preservation. In addition to his work at Penn, he is National Director of Industry Development and Technical Services for the International Masonry Institute (IMI) where he develops and promotes best practices for masonry construction and restoration. Prior to his position with IMI, Roy's private practice work focused on the research, documentation, testing, and treatment of historic buildings, artifacts, and sites. He is a Professional Associate of the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (AIC) and currently serves on the board of the AIC Architectural Specialty Group as well as the board of the Association for Preservation Technology, Delaware Valley Chapter.
