Shurui Zhang is a designer and researcher whose work explores maintenance, labor, and human relationships with land through the lens of care ethics. Her professional experience spans government agencies and private design practices, including contributions to the Virginia Coastal Resilience Master Plan and urban design projects at WXY Studio. Zhang’s current research, funded by the Architectural League of New York, examines Chinese diasporic urbanism in Flushing, investigating how immigrant communities reshape spatial narratives through everyday practices and adopt care as a framework to sustain cultural identities.
