What is your best Weitzman memory? OR Why did you choose Weitzman?
I am originally from South Louisiana, so my interest in planning, and especially planning schools, was below the Mason-Dixon Line. However after listening to wise counsel, I was drawn more to Weitzman Planning simply due to Philadelphia and the applicability of learning from the City and wider region to become a well-rounded planner and engage authentically in equity-centered and justice-driven work.
One tip to help make the transition into grad school?
My transition into grad school was slightly different than most. I entered Weitzman directly after completing my undergraduate studies at the University of Louisiana. My experience as an undergrad indeed carried over into Weitzman. So, for recent grads, my one recommendation would be to enjoy the journey to get another degree - as young planners, we are only at Weitzman for two years, so explore the profession, be interdisciplinary, and understand what drives you to become a planner!

For Philadelphia, 2026 will be a year unlike any other - six World Cup matches, multiple gatherings, MLB All-Star weekend, and the American Semiquin (250th Anniversary). For my planning Fall ‘23 studio, I was able to plan for how the City could use the year to leverage for policy & civic initiatives. This class centered on understanding current capacity & limits (both financial and political), reviewing the history of mega-events planning, and critically analyzing existing programs or goals. I was able to work in conversation with public officials to understand Philadlephia’s current small business development initiatives, which eventually guided my proposal for Philadelphia to create an initiative to support legacy small businesses.
