Last month, the Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia announced the recipients of the 2024 Preservation Achievement Awards, which includes a number of alums from the Weitzman School of Design.
Special Recognition Award winners include John Hanson (MSHP’86) of Hanson Fine Building, who won the Rhoda and Permar Richards Award for exemplary service to the Preservation Alliance.
In addition, the John Andrew Gallery Community Action Award for achievement by community organizations went to the Lynnewood Hall Preservation Foundation, which includes Jennifer Robinson (MSHP’15) as Board Secretary.
The Preservation Alliance also awards Grand Jury prizes to recognize outstanding preservation projects in the region. The following Weitzman alums contributed to these award-winning projects:
Logan I. Ferguson (MSHP’06), Kevin McMahon (MSHP’11), and Adrian Trevisan (MSHP’20) from Powers & Co, for five projects: 112 N. 3rd St; The Battery; Building 57, South Office; Germantown Fireproof Storage Building; and KIPP Philadelphia Preparatory Academy.
Katherine Frey (MSHP’97) of Mills + Schnoering Architects, for Carpenters’ Hall
For the Second Bank of the United States, Winston Clement (MSHP’14) of the Independence National Historical Park, project manager, and Dorothy Krotzer (MSHP’01), Katie Brown (MSHP’13), and Melissa Wei Luo-Hita (MSHP'19) of Building Conservation Associates, who were architectural conservation consultants.
Sam Olshin (MArch'86) and Irena Wight (MSHP'19) of Atkin Olshin Schade for Historic Filling Station, and Michael Schade (MArch'83) of the same firm for Building 57.
Monica Ortiz-Cortez (MSHP'20) and Ana Celdran (MArch'22) of CVM for the Frances M. Maguire Art Museum.
