The Photography & Video Equipment Room in the Department of Fine Arts provides access to multimedia equipment, studios and technical support in order to enhance the department’s curriculum and foster an environment of experimentation in the areas of photography, video, animation, and design. The Photography & Video Equipment Room maintains a state-of-the-art facility that is safe, efficient, and clean for over eight hundred students from across the university each academic year.

The Equipment room is open when classes are in session and closed between semesters and on holidays. Below are the Fall & Spring semester hours of operation.

Equipment Access
The Photography and Video Equipment Room provides access to resources specific to the courses within the Department of Fine Arts. Usage of this equipment is limited to students currently enrolled in courses within the department. All currently enrolled Fine Arts Students, faculty, and staff with a valid PENNCARD and a current loan agreement on file will have access to equipment and facilities. Access to the Photography and Video Equipment Room resources ends at the end of each semester.
Patrons must be authorized by their instructor (or TA) in class. Instructors will be expected to submit authorization rosters to the Photo Video Equipment Room following the authorization of students. Authorizations may take up to 24 hours to be entered into the system after the list has been submitted by the instructor. Authorizations to departmental resources will be valid for one semester, unless special access is granted by the department chair. Access for MFA students is valid for length of time enrolled in that specific program.
Reserving Equipment
Normal reservations for circulating equipment resources (according to published access rules) may be made in person at the Photo Video Equipment Room or online at the Webcheckout Patron Portal. To ensure that equipment will be available when you need it, we recommend making online reservations using the Webcheckout Patron Portal.
Please be prompt when picking up your equipment because we will make it available to other users if it has not been picked up within 30 minutes past your scheduled pickup time. Be sure to allow at least 15 minutes for checking out and returning equipment at the counter. When returning equipment, wait until your checkout is cleared from the computer, or you may incur a fine.
