"Dwelling in the Rocks" is a modular housing renovation project located in Harborside 5, New Jersey. Inspired by the layered textures of rocks, the design redefines the spatial potential of the existing office building through the flexible arrangement of modular units.
The design integrates layered geometric facades with modular living spaces, softening the rigid grid of the original column and, beam structure while creating a multi-dimensional architectural form reminiscent of natural rock formations.
The project not only achieves efficient adaptation of the existing structure but also imparts a natural aesthetic and visual impact. It embodies an innovative approach to repurposing old buildings while emphasizing sustainability and harmony with the residential experience.
