Denise Scott Brown, the Architectural Archives, and the Weitzman School hosted a celebration for architect Robert Venturi in the Fisher Fine Arts Reading Room on June 15th, with remeberances from students, colleagues, friends, and family. Beyond an internationally significant legacy of buildings and writings, Robert Venturi left his mark on a generation of Penn's students. His love of life, good humor and gentlemanly disposition were a delight to his many friends and colleagues. The depth of his creative spirit; his intelligence, skill and wit; and the transformative impact he and Denise Scott Brown made throughout their work together -- not only as artists but in changing the profession of architecture -- is inspiring.
The Venturi Scott Brown archival collection is held by the Architectural Archives. The full transcript of Denise Scott Brown's comments can be found on The Architect's Newspaper.
