Department of Architecture faculty have been shortlisted for several 2020 Architizer A+Awards, the world's largest awards program for architecture and building products.
Now in its 8th year, the A+Awards invites the public to participate in their free online voting platform. There are over 430 projects nominated for awards in over 100 categories.
Miller Professor and Chair Winka Dubbeldam's firm Archi-Tectonics is included in the Unbuilt Sports & Recreation category for their in-progress complex for the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
Cret Chair Professor of Practice Thom Mayne's firm Morphosis is included in the Models & Rendering category for 8850 Sunset Boulevard, a mixed-use development in Los Angeles.
Lecturer Brian Phillips' firm ISA is included in the Multi Unit Housing - Low Rise category for XS House, an apartment building on an 11-foot-wide parcel in Philadelphia's Chinatown.
In addition to faculty, Weitzman alum A. Eugene Kohn's (AR’53, GAR’57) firm Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates (KPF) is included in the Office - High Rise category for the China Resources Tower, a 400-meter-tall building inspired by the spring bamboo shoot.
Kohn also is the recipient of the 2019 Kanter Tritsch Medal for Excellence in Architecture and Environmental Design.
