All prospective Rome Prize applicants in the Philadelphia metro area and beyond are welcome to this Rome Prize Information Session. (This event is not limited to faculty or students at Penn.)
The program will include a presentation about the Rome Prize by AAR President Peter N. Miller and two Rome Prize Fellows: Kate Meng Brassel (2024 Fellow), assistant professor in the Department of Classical Studies at the University of Pennsylvania, and Frederick Steiner (1998 Fellow, 2014 Resident), Paley Professor and dean of the Weitzman School of Design. An extended Q&A will follow.
The final deadline to apply for the Rome Prize for the 2025–26 academic year is November 15, 2024. This event offers the opportunity to get your questions answered before the deadline.
Rome Prize Fellowships are available in ancient studies, architecture, design, historic preservation and conservation, landscape architecture, literature, medieval studies, modern Italian studies, musical composition, Renaissance and early modern studies, and visual arts. The Tsao Family Rome Prize will also be awarded to a humanities scholar whose project explores the relationship between Chinese and Mediterranean philosophical traditions.
Rome Prize Fellowships include a stipend, room and board, and an individual workspace at AAR’s eleven-acre campus in Rome.
