The Class of 2026 ceremony celebrates Weitzman students who:
will complete their degree requirements in May 2026;
completed the degree requirements in August 2025 or December 2025;
or are expected to earn the MSD-AAD degree in August 2026.
Graduates must be in attendance for their names to be read at the ceremony. Weitzman degrees, certificates, and awards will be read. Those awarded by other schools/institutions (even within Penn) are not read as graduates walk across stage.
Only graduates may walk across stage.
Expected graduates for the spring term must have Incomplete and deficient grades from previous terms rectified by April 15 and be on track to successfully graduate from the degree in order to participate in commencement. Spring term grades are due at noon the day before the Weitzman ceremony. As a result, expected graduates for the spring term who receive a deficient grade in a spring term course that causes them not to meet the degree requirements will not be eligible to participate in the school ceremony. Their name will be printed again in the next May's program and they will be invited to participate in graduation at that time if they have successfully met the degree requirements by the next year's deadlines.
Academic Regalia
Academic Regalia is required for participation in the Weitzman and University ceremonies.
Masters students purchase souvenir regalia; doctoral students can rent or purchase their regalia. Graduating students may purchase/order their academic regalia (cap and gown) in two ways:
At the Penn Bookstore during the Graduation Fair (TBA) or afterward. Please note that regalia options may be limited if purchasing after the grad fair.
Order online by (date TBA) to have regalia shipped directly to the graduate. Please note that hood colors for non-Weitzman degrees are not accessible through this link. Other students should refer to their home school for regalia information.
Hood colors vary by degree program:

Golden Yellow: Master of Science in Architecture, Master of Science in Design and Master of Science in Historic Preservation
Brown: Master of Architecture, Master of City and Regional Planning, Master of Environmental Building Design, Master of Fine Arts, Master of Landscape Architecture, and Master of Urban Spatial Analytics.
