Over half of the Weitzman School student body comes from abroad, representing 37 countries, as well as 43 states in the US. We welcome and support students from all over the world–and we believe that international students make our school a stronger and more vibrant intellectual community. Students also have the opportunity to travel to studio locations and summer abroad programs in countries across the globe.
How do I begin the immigration process?
Within one week of accepting the admissions offer, we will email you next steps for beginning the I-20 application process at Penn. Please wait for further instruction from our office before attempting to start the immigration process.
Why does my I-20/DS-2019 have a different start date than my program?
Your I-20/DS-2019 document may include a start date which does not exactly match the actual start date of your program. Many programs have required summer workshops, and you should confirm the actual start date of your program via the information on the admitted students website. If you have questions about your program start date, please reach out to your academic department.
Resources for International Students
New Student Information from International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS)
International Student Orientation is for all incoming F-1 or J-1 international students. ISO is designed to help students confirm arrival on Penn's campus for required government reporting, understand important immigration regulations and procedures required of F-1 & J-1 students, and assist new students in adjusting to life at Penn, in Philadelphia, and in the US. Visit the ISSS website for more information and for mandatory new student check-in requirements.
Forerunner Global
Forerunner Global is a program offered each summer by ISSS to prepare new international students for life in the Penn community.
