Spring 2024 End of Year Computing Info

Dear Weitzman students, 

As the end of the academic year approaches, we wanted to inform you of important information regarding your school accounts and other IT related information for the remainder of the year.   

 

Students graduating in May 

 

PennO365 Email 

PennO365 mailbox and Office licenses will automatically expire near the end of Summer 2024. 

Regardless of the timing, you should already prepare for your transition away from your student O365 account. You will receive an email reminder 30 days before your account is scheduled to permanently close!  

Please take advantage of the rest of the semester to complete the following steps. Do not wait until the last minute:

Alumni Email 

You may set up a new, full-fledged Quaker Gmail account through the Department of Alumni Relations.  Your email address for this account will be PennKey@alumni.upenn.edu.  To request this account, please visit their website (https://www.alumni.upenn.edu/getgmail).

Please note that Weitzman IT Services does not administer Quaker Gmail accounts; if you need assistance, please refer to the Alumni Relations FAQ (http://www.alumni.upenn.edu/quakergmail) and contact their Help Desk (helpdesk@alumni.upenn.edu). 

 

Computer Account 

Your Design AD Computer Account will be deleted on (06/14/2024).  Please back up your home folder data, as it will be permanently deleted on this date. For instructions on accessing these folders remotely, please visit our website (https://www.design.upenn.edu/remoteaccess). 

 

Print Billing

All final print billing for the spring semester will be submitted to the bursar by May 16th. All refund requests must be submitted by 5:00PM Tuesday May 14th. Refund requests submitted after this date will not be processed.

  

PennBox 

Data stored in Penn Box must be backed-up before graduation.  The University automatically deactivates accounts immediately following graduation (05/20/2024) and will permanently delete the data.  Weitzman ITS is unable to extend account access for PennBox, so start to back-up your data today.  More information is available online (http://www.upenn.edu/computing/box). 

Note: If you are conducting research with Weitzman faculty or working for the school in any capacity after graduation, please verify with your faculty to contact Finance and have your university affiliation verified/updated.   Only ACTIVE affiliations continue to have access to PennBox!

 

Zoom

Be sure to download any personal Zoom recordings you created.  Your Zoom account will be deactivated immediately following graduation (05/20/2024).

 

ArcGIS Pro Accounts

ArcGIS Pro Licenses will be revoked on 06/14/2024.

 

Grad Students taking classes, but not majoring at Weitzman School 

 

Computer Account 

Your Weitzman AD Computer Account will be deleted on (06/14/2024).  Please back up any relevant data before this date. 

 

Grad Students returning in the Fall 

 

Computer Account  

Your Weitzman AD Computer Account will remain active.  

***Note that over the summer, authentication to Weitzman resources will change and be communicated over the summer months. Information about these changes will be updated on our web page.

  

Lab Computer Storage 

As a reminder, "Local Data" storage on all lab/public computers is intended for temporary use only.  IT Staff permanently delete data on local drives during lab maintenance.  Use Weitzman-supported storage solutions (e.g., PennBox, OneDrive) to store your data.  

  

Adobe

**Beginning May 27, 2024, all Weitzman graduate and PhD students are eligible for free access to Adobe CC! Details on access to your subscription for 2024-25 will be updated on our webpage.**
