We are very pleased to share a bit of warm and very welcome news: Bill Braham, Associate Professor of Architecture, Director of the Master of Environmental Building Design degree and Director of the TC Chan Center for Building Simulation and Energy Studies, has been promoted to Full Professor.
Winka Dubbeldam, Professor and Chair of Graduate Architecture, together with the faculty of Architecture, join Dean Taylor in extending our heartfelt congratulations to Bill.
Dr. Braham has been teaching ecology, technology, and design at PennDesign since 1988, long before he took on his role of directing the Chan Center, the MEBD program, co-founding the Integrated Product Design program, and serving as interim chair of Graduate Architecture from 2008-2011. However, his relationship with this School began even before, when he was himself a Master of Architecture and later PhD student.
During his time here, Bill has built an impressive body of research—the true measure of academic excellence. His ideas have found their way in published form, including a book in 2006, Rethinking Technology: A Reader in Architectural Theory, several peer-reviewed articles, and active research coming out of the DOE Energy-Efficient Building HUB and symposia he organized on Architecture and Energy (www.architectureandenergy.com), including Architecture and Energy: Performance and Design (London: Routledge, 2013)—with more to follow.
Congratulations, Bill, on this accomplishment—and thank you for making PennDesign your home.
