Micah Danges manages the Silverstein Digital Projects Lab within the Fine Arts Department, where he has served the University of Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design since 2007. Working closely with faculty and students, and drawing on extensive professional experience in photography, including teaching at the University of California, Berkeley, he provides specialized instruction and technical support in digital imaging and fine art printing production.
Danges is a photo-media artist whose print-based practice explores the relationship between image and object and the material limits of photography through photocopying, printing, and casting processes. His work has been presented in solo and two-person exhibitions at The Commercial, Marginal Utility, Moore College of Art & Design, Samuel S. Fleisher Art Memorial, Cabrini College, and Vox Populi Gallery. Selected group exhibitions include the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the James A. Michener Art Museum, the Institute of Contemporary Art, Philadelphia, and The Print Center. He is the recipient of a Vermont Studio Center Fellowship, a Wind Challenge Grant from Samuel S. Fleisher Art Memorial, and a Pew Fellowship in the Arts. His work is held in the permanent collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
