Shaikhah Ali Alsahli is a PhD Candidate in History and Theory of Architecture. Shaikhah’s research examines the relationship between architecture and other fields of knowledge, art, and science in the early professionalization of architecture in the Arab Middle East. Through her research, she investigates the transfer of architectural knowledge and technique from the West to the Arab region in relation to colonialism, orientalism, and nationalism by examining the work of Arab architects and intellectuals of the early twentieth century. Shaikhah holds a professional Bachelor of Architecture from Kuwait University and a Master of Science in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania.
