Vicky Tam is a Principal Data Scientist at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. With over 20 years of experience at the intersection of geospatial analysis, data science, and public health, she leads advanced spatial analytics initiatives within CHOP's Data Science and Biostatistics Unit, developing innovative approaches to understanding pediatric health outcomes through geospatial analysis. Her work combines traditional GIS methodologies with modern machine learning techniques to address complex health disparities and inform evidence-based policy decisions.
Vicky is also a lecturer in the Master of Urban Spatial Analytics (MUSA) program, teaching Modeling Geographic Space (MUSA 632). In MUSA 632, she guides students through raster-oriented GIS analysis, from fundamental spatial qualities to imagery analysis to complex geospatial machine learning techniques. Her complementary course, Geography & Health (PUBH 517) in the Master of Public Health program, introduces students to the critical intersection of geography and public health, exploring how environmental factors influence health outcomes and teaching practical GIS applications in epidemiological research.
