In addition to the distinguished built environment professionals, artists, historians, and legal scholars previously announced, the Spring 2024 Lecture Series at the University Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design will feature talks by designers with the acclaimed practices Field Operations and KoningEizenberg, both of whom are being honored with 2023 Weitzman School Awards.
Field Operations was selected to receive the 2023 Witte-Sakamoto Family Medal in City and Regional Planning for the Reimagine Middle Branch Plan, a comprehensive plan to realize Baltimore’s next great waterfront while advancing equity, resilience, and health. KoningEizenberg Architecture was selected to receive the 2023 Kanter Tritsch Medal in Architecture.
On Monday, February 26, Field Operations' Sarah Weidner Astheimer, partner, and Megan Born, associate partner, will talk about the firm's role in developing the Reimagine Middle Branch Plan and other work.
On Monday, March 18, Julie Eizenberg, founding principal at KoningEizenberg, will talk about the firm's recent projects.
The Witte-Sakamoto Family Medal in City and Regional Planning recognizes a firm, team, or professional for an exemplary plan that advances the field of plan making in at least four of the following areas: social equity, environmental quality, design, public health, mobility, housing affordability, and economic development.
The Kanter Tritsch Medal in Architecture honors an architect or firm that has changed the course of design history, with a particular focus on the areas of energy conservation, environmental quality, and/or diversity.
