The Wharton Future of Cities Conference was an opportunity for me to connect with an eclectic bunch of people. I had the chance to meet with various interesting organizations that operated in tangential fields to city planning. I also met people working in the public, non-profit and private sector and got a better understanding of the varied degrees of work they do. The event offered me the opportunity to not only understand different perspectives of people in the planning and policy field but also network with them during the event.
The conference also provided an opportunity for the second-year students from the city planning department to showcase the research they did in their Fall studio for the Dominican Republic. Four students presented their analysis and proposals for a climate-resilient city.
All-in-all it was a wonderful opportunity to meet people from various schools, understand the tangents of planning and policy, and learn about numerous organizations working in the field. I cannot wait for the next conference in 2024!
