PhD Candidate Rami Kanafani presented a chapter of his dissertation titled “New Age Environmentalism” at the Temple Hoyne Buell Dissertation Colloquium at Columbia University on March 29. The Buell Dissertation Colloquium is a bi-annual meeting of doctoral candidates working on a broad range of topics across the Americas. This year’s colloquium was organized by Buell director professor Lucia Allais, and Rami’s panel was chaired by professor Reinhold Martin. Rami’s paper outlined a rich network of scientists and humanists called the Lindisfarne Association attempting to transform the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, just a couple of blocks away from Columbia’s campus, into an ecological bioshelter.
