The Thermal Architecture Lab (TAL) has opened its new research facility at Pennovation, expanding its capacity for experimental prototyping, environmental sensing, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The new space supports ongoing research on human-centered cooling technologies, adaptive façade systems, and climate-responsive design strategies that address the challenges of rising global temperatures and urban heat stress.
The opening coincides with a recent Penn Today feature highlighting TAL’s work on designing cooling strategies for bodies in motion, emphasizing the lab’s commitment to integrating thermodynamics, material innovation, and architectural design to improve thermal comfort and energy performance.
