The Public Service and Policy Initiative’s Impact Scholars Program, in partnership with the Penn Institute for Urban Research (Penn IUR), brings together former local public leaders who have firsthand experience driving change in their communities.
Impact Scholars have semester-long appointments to continue advancing unfinished work from their time in office and share lessons learned from their leadership journey with the next generation of civic changemakers.
Throughout their appointment, PSPI Impact Scholars:
Lead seminars, mentor, and network with students participating in PSPI's Public Service Pipeline.
Produce thought leadership to assist local decision-makers in addressing pressing local challenges.
Analyze previously captured research and data to shape and advise on knowledge products, such as whitepapers and research briefs, making sure they provide relevant and actionable insights for policymakers.
Work with Penn researchers, students, and local leaders to inform solutions development, including PSPI's Philadelphia Economic Equity Project (PEEP) researchers.
