In a recent publication in Geographical Analysis, Associate Professor and Master of Urban Spatial Analytics Program Director Elizabeth Delmelle and collaborators introduce a novel approach to understanding urban neighborhood change using time series clustering in an article titled "Time Series Clustering for Exploring Neighborhood Dynamics: The Case of U.S. Neighborhood Racial and Ethnic Trends, 1990–2020." The method uncovers distinct patterns of neighborhood racial-ethnic composition change across U.S. cities over three decades. Building on this research, graduates Emily Zhou (MUSA'25) and Wei Jing Ang (MUSA'25) developed an interactive website for their MUSA Practicum, allowing users to explore these dynamic trajectories and their spatial patterns. The project demonstrates how data science and geospatial analysis can illuminate long-term trends in urban transformation.
