Recent graduate Marta Llor (MArch'20) was profiled in Madame Architect, an online platform highlighting women in architecture.
Llor discussed her favorite design projects at Weitzman, her role models, and advice for aspiring architects.
"I’m a firm believer in being part of the change you wish to see in the world, and what’s most important to me is to do work I love and believe in," she explained.
"I deeply admire activists, policy makers, advocates, allies and people who stand up for a more equitable society. Creatively, I draw inspiration from cities, from urban instances, situations, oddities and materials. I admire nature, from the smallest nanoscales to the largest forests, and its resilience, ability to heal, make space for other living creatures, and grow."
While at Penn, Llor served as the Professional Development Chair for Penn Women in Design (PWIA), a student-led group advocating for equity, exposure, and empowerment in the field.
In 2019, PWIA hosted Madame Architect's founder, Julia Gamolina, for a livestreamed discussion on campus with Miller Professor and Chair Winka Dubbbeldam.
