Applications for Certificates & Dual Degrees

Certificates

Students in the Weitzman School of Design who are interested in a degree plus certificate program will be able to apply for the certificate program in the fall, after they matriculate into their degree program, or in the spring for the following fall. Application

The application is available here. All applications must be submitted through our online application system; we no longer accept emailed applications.

Application Deadlines

November 1, 2023: Spring 2024 enrollment

February 1, 2024: Fall 2024 enrollment (Application will open on January 1, 2024)

All applications must be submitted by 11:59 PM eastern time.

Application Requirements

Required supporting material for each certificate can be found under the individual certificate descriptions.

  • The Certificate in Integrated Product Design is only available to Weitzman School of Design, SEAS, and Wharton graduate students.
  • The Certificates in Historic Preservation, Urban Design, Urban Resiliency, and Real Estate Design and Development are available to Weitzman School of Design students only.
  • The Certificate in Environmental Building Design is available to our Master of Architecture students only.

Dual Degrees

Dual Degrees within Weitzman

The Weitzman School offers dual degree programs. Applicants must apply to each program separately. There is no dual degree admissions committee; the two applications will be evaluated and decisioned separately. Once the first application is submitted, you can import the basic application information and uploaded transcripts into the second application. You will need to upload a new resume, personal statement, portfolio (if applicable), and request new letters of recommendation. You will also receive an application fee waiver code to use for the second application.

Dual Degrees with Other Schools at Penn

Applicants interested in an external dual degree must apply to each school/program separately. There is no dual degree admissions committee; the two applications will be evaluated and decisioned separately. Please reach out to the other Penn school for questions regarding their admissions process.
