DumoLab has been awarded a Penn EII Grant to form a Research Community and embark in "Symbiotic Architecture for Environmental Justice: Bioremediation and Education with Mycelium-Plant Living Materials in Philadelphia” within the Climate Action & Societal Resilience track.
The team will bring together Penn scholars at the Department of Architecture, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Biology, Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics, and at The Fisher Fine Arts Materials Library. External consultants include a local fungi farm and experts such as Vasilis Kokkoris (Systems Ecology, Vrije Amsterdam Uni) who in 2021 won EMA ImageoftheYear for this image of multinucleate spores of a soil fungus.
