The City of Philadelphia Department of Commerce presented Michael Fichman, lecturer in the Department of City & Regional Planning and research associate with PennPraxis, with the Citizens Award during the Inaugural Forum for the Creative Economy and Arts in Education Month Event on Friday, March 31. Over 150 community members attended the event to celebrate exemplary work toward promoting the arts and culture of Philadelphia.
In addition to his extensive work and contributions to the Master of Urban Spatial Analytics program and the planning department at Weitzman, Fichman is a DJ, producer, chair of Nightlife of the Arts and Culture Task Force, and the founder of 24HrPHL.
“As artists, we can lead the way because we are not boxed in by conventional thinking. It is really important for the city to recognize the contributions of artists, because we are people who define the soul of Philadelphia. Great to see so many of us be recognized during the Inaugural Forum for the Creative Economy and Arts in Education Month event," said Fichman at the forum.
Congratulations to Michael Fichman for his award and dedication to the culture of Philadelphia.
