More than 30 events offer a survey of issues motivating today’s leading artists, historians, and built environment professionals.
From the roots of contemporary urban uprisings to the politics of the clean energy transition and the future of museums, the Weitzman Fall 2024 Lecture Series surveys the myriad issues motivating today’s leading artists, historians, planners, designers and other built environment professionals in more than 30 events held over 11 weeks, beginning Wednesday, September 4.
The series will include a celebration of the centennial of the Department of Landscape Architecture; a two-day conference on the origins of modern concrete heritage, its conservation issues and methods, and current demands for sustainability and ecological transition; a conversation on Louis Kahn’s notebooks with the famed architect’s daughter; and representatives of Charlotte, North Carolina, on the Charlotte Future 2040 Comprehensive Plan, recipient of the 2024 Witte-Sakamoto Family Medal in City and Regional Planning. The series begins with a talk by architects Mauricio Pezo and Sofia von Ellrichshausen, the founders of the Pezo von Ellrichshausen, a firm based in rural Chile.
