With climate change posing imminent risks that range from rising seas to more extreme weather events, cities must work with ecology rather than against it to develop sustainably, according to the new book Design with Nature Now, forthcoming in October from the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy and University of Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design. University of Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design to Honor KPF Cofounder A. Eugene Kohn and RPA’s Fourth Regional Plan at October 2019 Gala

The University of Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design has selected KPF cofounder A. Eugene Kohn as the 2019 recipient of the Kanter Tritsch Medal for Excellence in Architecture and Environmental Design, and the Regional Plan Association (RPA) Fourth Regional Plan as the inaugural recipient of the Witte-Sakamoto Family Medal in City and Regional Planning. The honorees, and recipients of two accompanying scholarships for exceptional students, will be recognized at the Stuart Weitzman School of Design Awards gala on Monday, October 21, 2019, at the IAC Building in New York City.

Stuart Weitzman to Speak at 2019 Commencement Ceremony

Award-winning designer and footwear icon Stuart Weitzman, the chairman emeritus of Stuart Weitzman, LLC, will speak at the Commencement Exercises of the University of Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design on Saturday, May 18. In February, Penn named the School of Design in honor of Weitzman, a 1963 graduate of the Wharton School, in recognition of both his ongoing philanthropic support of the University and his active engagement in its academic activities.

Energy Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania Receives $30 Million Gift

The Kleinman Center for Energy Policy at the University of Pennsylvania today received an anonymous $30 million gift that will support continued programming at the Center. Underscoring Penn’s commitment to energy and sustainability, the $30 million gift arrives on the heels of last week’s $50 million gift from alumni Roy (C'50, HON'99) and Diana Vagelos to build a new science center for researchers focused on energy science. This gift also follows Penn President Amy Gutmann’s 2017 announcement that Driving Energy Solutions would be one of the top priorities for the multi-year Power of Penn Campaign, currently underway.
